THE AGAWAM CULTURAL COUNCIL

About Us

The Agawam Cultural Council is an all-volunteer local partner of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and is funded, in part, by the MCC. The ACC is charged with advancing the Arts in our community by dispersing state-provided monies via a grant application process. In addition, utilizing funds from our own fundraising efforts -- including freewill audience donations -- we have made it our mission to present a range of engaging, entertaining, and educational events to audiences of all ages.

Here are a few of our "Give Back to the Community" projects (past and present):

  • Three $1,000 grants to Agawam High School students seeking careers in music, art, or writing.
  • Annual public writing competitions with awards for children and adults.
  • Performances at the Agawam Senior Center.
  • Free drawings for tickets to Children's Theatre performances at the Majestic Theater (West Springfield).
  • Domestic and Foreign Film Festivals presented at the Agawam Family Cinemas.
  • A fully-staged professional production presented each year at the Agawam High School by Shakespeare & Co. -- free and open to the public.
  • Springfield Symphony Orchestra's "Musical Petting Zoo" presented to 1st and 2nd grades and/or Kindergartens in the Agawam Schools -- at no cost to the schools.
  • Annual Applause Series events, each month from September to May, presented free and open to the public with a variety of guests including authors, historians, musical groups, and dancers!
  • Donations to the "Friends of the Agawam Public Library" supporting their Open-Juried Art Shows.

We offer low-cost NYC bus trips in May and November, and we sponsor and participate in the SummerFest FREE Outdoor Concert Series presented each year in School Street Park in Agawam.
