 Writing Competition Guidelines


The Second Annual Agawam Writing Competition was open to everyone in the Town of Agawam. Previously published poems or short stories from other contests were not accepted. A category receiving five or fewer entries had no prize awarded in that category. The competition ran from November 1, 2011 through December 15, 2011.

The basic requirements for each age group are spelled out below. All entries had to be typed or written legibly. Names could not appear on final copy. A cover sheet with contact information had to accompany each submission. Cover contained:

Notification of winners. A special publication event will be held March 13, 2012 at the Agawam Public Library. Awards will be distributed and the authors presented to the public.

Prizes will be awarded in each division.
1st Place $50.00
2nd Place $25.00
3rd Place $15.00
